Backing up data from a Managed Apple ID Account
Your Managed Apple ID ends in @appleid.scgs.moe.edu.sg.
When leaving SCGS (transferring to another school or graduating from SCGS), the iPad will be fully erased to release it from the DMA. In addition, the Managed Apple ID that was used will eventually be deactivated.
This means that all data on the iPad, and all data associated with that Managed Apple ID (stored in iCloud) will be lost.
To ensure that you do not lose any important data, the following can be performed:
Copy data to alternative Cloud storage
1. The student first has to download the relevant app for the alternative cloud storage service they are using (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.) and sign in to their account using the app (open the app and follow the instructions).
2. Open Files, tap More Locations (below Locations in the Browse sidebar), then turn on the service.
3. To view your contents, tap Browse at the bottom of the screen, then tap the name of the storage service below Locations. If you don’t see Locations, tap Browse again at the bottom of the screen.
4. Navigate to the various folders on the iPad as well as iCloud Drive, and copy or move the files they wish to keep to the alternative cloud storage.
If you are unable to download apps on your PLD, you may still use alternative cloud services by going to their respective websites in the Safari browser. For example, https://drive.google.com for Google Drive, and https://onedrive.live.com/ for OneDrive.
Access files from iCloud.com
It is also possible to access the files that have been saved in iCloud using a web browser from any computer (Mac, Windows PC, Chromebook, etc.).
The student can log into their iCloud account using their Managed Apple ID at https://www.icloud.com/ and once logged in, if iCloud was turned on in the iPad for the respective apps, have access to Contacts, Calendar, Photos, iCloud Drive, Notes, Reminders, as well as Pages, Numbers and Keynote files.
Files can then be downloaded onto the computer being used to access iCloud, or saved to an external storage device.

*Important for CollaNote/Kilonotes/Goodnotes users*
If you are using any non-standard apps such as CollaNote or Kilonotes, it is very important to backup your data manually as any notes or data in these apps will be lost. Do follow the instructions listed here: https://scgssict.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/63000278011-backing-up-data-for-non-standard-apps
You can also choose to backup the data manually by copying and pasting the notes from the Files app to any cloud storage providers such as OneDrive or Google Drive.
Moving the data back to a device signed in with a Personal Apple ID
After the DMA Unenrollment, you may sign in to your iPad with a Personal Apple ID, and perform the reverse steps to copy the saved data back to the iPad.
If you do not have a Personal Apple ID, you may sign up for one at appleid.apple.com. Each Personal Apple ID comes with 5GB of iCloud Storage.
