It is a good practice to periodically backup your data onto iCloud, especially your more important notes or schoolwork. This article shows you a number of ways to ensure that your data is backed up properly.
1. Ensure that you are signed in to your school Managed Apple ID.
This Apple ID gives you 200gb of iCloud storage.

2. Tap on the iCloud button under Settings - Apple ID - iCloud
Ensure that iCloud backup is enabled for all apps which you wish to backup. Particularly for any newly installed apps that you may have.
Once this settings is enabled, the data from the respective apps should save onto the cloud directly.
3. To check if all files are saved onto the cloud, open up the Files app on your iPad
4. In the Files app, the Location "On my iPad" shows the files that are currently on your iPad, "iCloud Drive" shows the files that have been backed up.
5. Select the file which you wish to find or backup (located in "On your iPad"). To be safe, you may wish to make a copy of the file first by tapping duplicate.
6. Tap and hold on the file to bring up the contextual menu. Tap on Move.
7. Tap on "iCloud Drive" to upload the file to iCloud.
You may also wish to create folders in your iCloud Drive in order to organise your files.
Optional: For more advanced users, you may also wish to backup files in the Split Screen view as shown below.
8. You can also perform a counter check to see if the files in all the other apps have also been saved onto the iCloud. Please see the attached file for the steps on how to backup for Notes, Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Photos.
9. After backing up, do try viewing the files in iCloud Drive to ensure that they were backed up correctly.
The school recommends that you do a backup weekly, to ensure that you do not lose too much work in the event that your iPad is spoilt and needs to be wiped or replaced.
